Tecnilabo had the opportunity to collaborate with Masco Group on the construction of the company's new chemical and microbiological laboratories. The goal was to create a safe, ergonomic and functional work environment, meeting specific space and research needs.
1. Analysis and Strategy
We worked with the client to fully understand the research needs and how these requirements could be met within the available spaces. This involved detailed meetings and site visits, to ensure a customized and efficient design.
2. Design and Planning
This phase involved the creation of a design that not only maximizes the efficiency of the space, but also ensures the safety of the operators. Compared to the initial project, we proposed alternative configurations to the client, combining ergonomics and the possibility of reconfiguring the furnishings even in the event of future moves.
The new laboratories were designed taking into account current regulations and best practices in the sector, in order to allow optimal research, from an experiential and safety point of view.
During this phase, logistics studies were also conducted.
3. Implementation
Overcoming space challenges, we ensured timely and efficient delivery within the Masco Group facilities, providing:
Through the use of a fixed platform, positioned outside the complex, all the bulkier equipment such as chemical hoods, biohazards and refrigerators were moved to the floor. This solution made it possible to avoid possible damage to the internal structure which was already completed also in terms of finishes
The installation of the furnishings and machinery took place on the second floor of the building, while the plant machinery was placed on the third floor. This strategic arrangement allows for optimization of the spaces and functionality of the new laboratories.
The project was completed in May 2024 after four months of intensive work, with careful monitoring and quality control and a testing phase.
As highlighted by Vincenzo Di Girolamo, System Qualification Manager of Masco Group:
"The entire Tecnilabo team has proven to be an excellent partner to collaborate with. Part of the success of the project is due to the professionalism demonstrated. I personally followed the internal validations of the equipment supplied; the results are excellent. The thermal mappings of incubators, refrigerators, ultra-freezers and freezers are well within the acceptance criteria and the thermal distribution inside the chambers is uniform. The validation results of the hoods equipped with absolute filters are also very satisfactory."
This project has provided Masco with cutting-edge laboratories, demonstrating Tecnilabo's ability to tackle complex challenges, offering tailor-made solutions that meet customer needs and the most stringent quality and safety standards.
We are proud to have contributed to the advancement of Masco Group's research capabilities, supporting their commitment to innovation and scientific excellence.
